Getting started: After chemical levels are balanced and the pool is vacuumed, you are ready to lower your water level. First off, assure that your draining hose is well attached to the plumbing exit port and that the hose is free of kinks. When draining your pool, please be mindful of your neighbour’s property. To not harm our local aquatic water life, it is illegal to drain a salt water pool into the municipal storm sewer.
For cartridge filters: With the pump on, using the black three-way valve in front of your pump, close the skimmer so that you are only drawing water from the main drains. Turn your blue or red drain ball valve to the open position so that water bypasses the filter. Afterwards keep an eye on the lowering water level. Once the water is one inch below the returns (wall jets) turn off the pump and put away the draining hose, from here a Pool Builders service member will do the rest.
For sand filters: With the pump off, using the black three-way valve in front of your pump, close the skimmer so that you are only drawing water from the main drains. Turn your filter dial to the waste position so that water bypasses the filter. Afterwards, turn the pump on and keep an eye on the lowering water level. Once the water is one inch below the returns (wall jets) turn off the pump and put away the draining hose, from here a Pool Builders service member will do the rest.
To prime your inground swimming pool pump follow these steps below:
Follow steps 1 to 8 for pools that include main drains and cartridge filter.
*If no Main drains, skip step 2 and 7
*If sand filter, skip step 8
1- Turn off power to pump (switch and breaker)
2- Using black 3 way valve, turn off Skimmer (main drain on only)
3- Remove pump lid
4- Fill pump with water all the way to top.
5- Put pump lid back on
6- Turn on Pump
7- Once pump is fully primed, turn on skimmer using 3 way valve (pump may fill with air at this point, simply wait about 10-60 seconds for it to fill back up).
8- Release air in system (open bleeder valve on top of cartridge filter, once water shoots out of bleeder valve, there is no more air in system).
If your liner is pulled away from the pool coping you can simply watch this quick video on how to tuck your inground or onground swimming pool liner back into the pool coping. Sometimes if it is cold out or your liner has less stretch just pour a kettle of boiling water over top of it (be careful not to get water behind the pool wall) do the same steps, then splash cold water from the pool onto it.
