When to Open Your Pool
When choosing the right moment to open your pool it is important to factor in unnecessary hydro/gas costs for early spring openings, and also to consider excessive algae build up for late spring openings. Your pool can be opened as soon as the ice inside the pool has completely melted and the weather forecasts above freezing for the next 14 days. Also, keep in mind that it is not necessary to run the heater until you are ready to swim in the pool.
Days that we will be opening pools in your area:
Mondays: Stittsville
Tuesdays: Nepean/ Barrhaven/ Manotick
Wednesdays: Ottawa Center/ Westboro / Riverside South / Greely / Orléans
Thursdays: Kanata/ Richmond/ North Gower / Kemptville/ Stittsville
Fridays: Carp/ Kanata North/ West Carleton / Carleton Place/ Ashton
What you need to know and do before your pool opening.
Pool Fittings:
Prior to your pool opening, please have all the pool fittings (return eyeballs, skimmer basket, pressure gauge, filter plug, etc.) accessible for our technicians.
Cartridges:
If you have a cartridge filter, make sure the cartridges are clean and ready to be put back in the filter. The best way to clean your cartridges is by rinsing them with a pressure washer.
Pool Covers:
Unless receiving the safety cover removal add-on, please ensure your pool is completely uncovered prior to your scheduled pool opening.
Water Level & Chemistry:
If your pool water level is over the top of the skimmer, simply leave it be as it does not affect the opening process. To start the water treatment right away, our service technicians will add the chemical kit in for you right away as it will circulate through your main drains, do not lower your water level until at least a few hours after we have opened your pool. When ready, you can use your main drains and pool pump to drain the additional water. The ideal water level is halfway up the skimmer mouth. When booking you can also choose to have our technician lower the water level for you at an additional charge.
Once the pool has been opened you will need to get your water chemistry done as well as add the required salt for a saltwater pool.
Payment:
You can pay for your opening by credit card or by email money transfer.
If you will not be home:
-Please ensure the pool and pool equipment is completely accessible for our technician.
-Please ensure the basement breaker supplying electricity to the pool equipment is on.
-If you have a wireless remote for your lights, please leave it out for our technician to test.
-If you have not already prepaid, please leave a cheque with the proper amount in a visible area for our technician.
